Comal eyeing courtrooms at Scooter Store

Comal County is examining the cost of converting The Scooter Store’s former headquarters into a justice center to resolve a perennial courtroom shortage.

The problem has worsened since 2010 when voters defeated a proposal to issue $36 million in bonds to build a courts building in downtown New Braunfels.

“This week we had a couple of cases that were ready for trial, but we didn’t have courtroom space for the visiting judges to conduct them,” County Judge Sherman Krause said.
